[Learning] Nativity Blocks

This time of year, I just can't get enough of the Christmas story. Every night we talk about the Nativity story with our little one and he is always so attentive. (For a wonderful and beautiful Nativity movie go HERE).
A couple of years ago I came across these Nativity Blocks at the blog Yellow Spool and have really wanted to make some of my own. I love Nativities and we probably have more than we need, but I thought these looked so fun and were perfect for kids to play with and handle. Go HERE for the full tutorial. (*the main thing that I did differently is use a fine point permanent marker to make the lines more sharp)
The tutorial was very simple and easy to do and doesn't require any weird supplies. I actually haven't finished my like she did hers. I only did the pictures, but I just haven't had the chance to add the words and scriptures on. Seriously, check hers out for the more detailed ones.
I must add, Captain Awesome really likes them. Whenever we go over the nativity story, he will go and grab each character from the Nativity as we talk about them. Aren't the animals so simple and cute!

  3. Good thinking using a marker to darken the images. I'll have to try that on my own set!

    Love seeing your nativity!
