I love a good period piece, especially the ones done by BBC. Because of my love of Downton Abbey, I've had quite a few friends recommend (or rather tell me) that I need to watch Lark Rise to Candleford. However, it took me a while to watch it. And oh my goodness! I'm on Season 3 right now, but I fell in love with the show after watching a couple of episodes of Season 1. I will go as far as saying that I love this show far more than Downton Abbey.
Each episodes has it's drama, but its much more down to earth and morally uplifting than any show that I've watched recently. My husband opted out of watching any of them with me because he said that he "needed a break from period dramas", but that didn't stop me from talking about it with him. I feel that the morals in the show are much more inline with our own morals and that it makes me want to be a better person after each episode.
